The 2021 State of Downtown Baltimore 12-page report is an economic benchmark of city data in the areas of office and employment, residential, hospitality, and retail trends. Downtown Baltimore’s overall economy was recovering in 2021. Employment grew modestly from 2020 to 2021, with Healthcare, Public Administration, and Professional Services remaining the top employment sectors. Downtown office space vacancy also rebounded slightly from 2020 lows, outperforming national and regional markets.
The Federal Reserve Bank also publishes a monthly Snapshot of the Fifth District Economy that includes specific data on Maryland’s labor market, household, business and real estate transactions. The July 2022 report shows mostly positive economic conditions in Maryland with increased employment and generally positive housing market indicators.

A 32-page report draft by the Maryland Commission on Climate Change entitled Building Energy Transition Plan – A Roadmap for Achieving Net-Zero Emissions in the Residential and Commercial Buildings Sectors was drafted in September 2021. The report examines scenarios aimed at achieving net-zero emissions for Maryland’s residential and commercial building sectors by 2045.
