Ice Air Shares Insights to Advance Renewable Energy at the Thermal Energy Network Symposium

Ice Air Shares Insights to Advance Renewable Energy at the Thermal Energy Network SymposiumMount Vernon, NY – Ice Air, a leading innovator of HVAC solutions, played a key role at the Thermal Energy Network Symposium which took place on March 12-14, 2024, in Rochester, Minnesota. Ice Air’s Director of Marketing and Sales, Tom Glass, joined a pivotal panel discussion on initiating the installation of Thermal Energy Networks in communities and cities.

“Ice Air was excited to sponsor and participate in the Thermal Energy Network Symposium and contribute to the conversation surrounding cost-saving renewable energy solutions,” said Glass. “Gathering over 120 sustainability professionals from across the nation and beyond was a testament to the event’s impact. This works to broaden everyone’s understanding of how to set up thermal energy networks.”

Bryant Jones, Executive Director of Geothermal Rising who organized the event stated, “If we’re going to improve the health of people, it’s important to switch to geothermal energy from traditional energy sources.”

“This was another milestone for our company, and for America,” said Ric Nadel, Ice Air Founder and CEO, referring to Ice Air’s recent grant awarded to build new manufacturing facility in Spartanburg, SC to increase domestic production of Geothermal and Cold Climate Heat Pumps. “The advances in heat pump technology enable far greater efficiencies and immediate energy cost-savings and fit perfectly with the Symposium’s objectives.”

Tom Glass at Thermal Energy Network SymposiumAs communities strive to achieve their renewable energy goals, The Thermal Energy Network Symposium served as a crucial platform for exploring innovative approaches. Ice Air’s expertise in engineering Geothermal Heat Pump Technology brought valued information to the forum that aligns with the principles of nature conservation and sustainability. Also known as district energy systems, Thermal Energy Networks offer tremendous opportunities to leverage renewable energy sources for heating and cooling purposes on a community-wide scale. By centralizing energy production and distribution, these networks can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance energy efficiency.

The Thermal Energy Network Symposium provided a valuable platform for stakeholders to exchange insights, collaborate on strategies, and advance initiatives that support the transition towards renewable energy. Ice Air is committed to driving innovation in the HVAC industry and looks forward to contributing to the dialogue at the symposium.

Rochester was chosen because of the city’s unique position to use thermal energy. The city has an aggressive goal to reduce Rochester’s greenhouse gas emissions 40% by 2030 to align with the State of New York’s emission reduction goals. Scot Ramsey, Manager of Facilities and Property, City of Rochester, said, “The event is a great opportunity for the city to become electrified and meet some of their carbon reduction goals.” Those goals have been captured in the city’s City of Rochester’s Office of Energy and Sustainability Climate Action Plan (CAP), a 102- page document.
