Project Description
Parkchester Gardens is a eight-story senior affordable housing development located at 1701 Purdy Street in the Parkchester neighborhood of the Bronx. Designed by Dattner Architects and developed through a joint venture between Olshan Properties and O’Connor Capital Partners, the project brings 221 thoughtfully designed residential units to the area. Of these, 67 apartments are specifically reserved for formerly displaced seniors, offering a stable, supportive environment for aging New Yorkers in need.
Residents benefit from a Project-Based Section 8 contract provided by the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, ensuring long-term housing affordability. The building also includes on-site amenities tailored to senior living, with accessibility features, communal areas, and supportive services that promote health, safety, and community engagement.
Ideally positioned near the intersection of Purdy Street and Parker Street, Parkchester Gardens offers easy access to public transportation, including the 6 train at Castle Hill Avenue, allowing residents to stay connected to the broader Bronx and beyond. The building began welcoming residents in late 2023.
