ICE AIR HVAC PRODUCTS EARN THE AHRI CERTIFIED® PERFORMANCE MARK

 

 

 

MT. VERNON, NY -Ice Air®, the developer and manufacturer of a wide variety of HVAC units, is pleased to announce its participation in the AHRI (Air-Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Institute) Room Fan-Coil Air-Conditioners (RFC) Certification Program. As a participant, Ice Air products are tested and certified to the highest industry performance standards and will carry the AHRI certified label.

The program is set up to protect the integrity of the HVAC industry by encouraging performance standards and bringing the use of energy-efficient products to market. For example, it is mandatory for program RFC participants to comply with the provisions of the latest edition of ANSI/AHRI 440, Performance Rating of Room Fan-Coils (Standard).

The AHRI symbol itself represents both Ice Air’s concern and regard for its customers and the environment.

Products that are certified through the AHRI Product Performance Certification Program are continuously tested, at the direction of AHRI, by an independent third-party laboratory, contracted by AHRI, to determine the product’s ability to conform to one or more product rating standards or specifications.

ICE AIR SHOWCASED HVAC OPTIONS AT NJAA CONFERENCE & EXPO IN ATLANTIC CITY

Bill Liu Appointed Director of Engineering for Ice Air®

MT. VERNON, NY – Bill Liu has been appointed Director of Engineering for ICE AIR®, a leading manufacturer of a wide variety of HVAC units for the new construction and replacement marketplaces. The announcement was made by Mo Siegel and Ric Nadel, ICE AIR’s Co-CEOs.

“Bill’s accomplishments in refrigeration and HVAC reflect a rich history of success at planning, developing and implementing sustainable and growth programs in our industry,” Siegel said. “His achievements in energy efficient and environmental friendly refrigeration equipment deployment and supply chain management made him the perfect fit for us.”

“Bill has extensive international management and sourcing experience as well,” Nadel added, “working in North America, Europe and Asia. Ice Air is excited to have him onboard.”

Liu will be responsible for planning and directing all aspects of engineering activities and projects, including utilizing best practice methods and providing expert technical guidance for engineering initiatives. He will be managing the overall engineering budget and costs, incorporating components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output.

HAIDER JOINS ICE AIR AS SALES ENGINEER

MT. VERNON, NY– Zeshan Haider has been appointed Sales Engineer at ICE AIR, one of the leading manufacturers of a wide variety of HVAC units for new construction and the replacement marketplaces. The announcement was made by Mo Siegel and Ric Nadel, ICE AIR’s Co-CEOs.

He held design responsibility for the R&D of new product offerings, successfully guiding projects from initial concept to full production. Prior to that he was an Applications Engineer for Omega Engineering, a leader in the measurement and control industry, where he managed work in the flow and temperature departments, helping customers with their needs in water-flow related inquires.

ELDER JOINS ICE AIR AS NEW DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

ICE AIR MEETING DURING AHR SHOW IN CHICAGO UPDATES SALES REPRESENTATIVES, ENGINEERS AND ICE AIR CUSTOMERS ON COMPANY’S UNIQUE ROLE IN THE HVAC INDUSTRY

MT. VERNON, NY– Playing to a full audience at the Sinclair and Hemingway rooms at the luxury Waldorf Astoria Chicago during the AHR show, which took place at McCormick Place in early January, ICE AIR presented the company’s latest developments in the form of testimonial stories about their business relationships. Through the words of a distributor, a sales representative and a property developer, the company let their narratives about doing business with ICE AIR speak for the company’s successes in the HVAC business.

“Our idea was to bring in these testimonials and share their experiences with the people we work with,” said Mo Siegel, ICE AIR’s President/Co-CEO. “As one of the leading HVAC manufacturers providing superior new construction heating and cooling systems and replacements for old installations, we can always tell our story, but hearing it first hand from these value-chain participants created just the right atmosphere for our meeting.”

Tom Glass, ICE AIR’s Director of Sales and Marketing, kicked off the meeting energizing the people with music and strong introductions of the speakers. However, he began asking the audience, comprised of engineers, sales representatives and distributors, a provocative question: “What does it mean to be a successful company?”

“If you don’t treat the customer right, you won’t keep the customer,” Glass told the audience, “and keeping customers is what we all do or try to do. It’s always about the customer.”

Glass boiled down the answer to his question into three words: Reliability, Trust and Relationships. And then he brought up the speakers one at a time, each of whom addressed the audience with their personal experiences with ICE AIR.

“It was profound,” said ICE-AIR’s Co-CEO and Chairman, Ric Nadel. “From a distributor who told the audience that their relationship with ICE AIR sets them apart from competition, to a sales representative who related how ICE AIR stepped up to ‘save the day’ when one of their projects went South, to a property developer who told the audience managing expectations of owners is how ICE AIR helps him do his job. It was humbling to hear these professionals express their view about our company to the room.”

The meeting ended with a five minute overview of ICE AIR’s new project management and pricing software. Called Hi-Spec™, the program was developed to provide the value chain participants from engineers to sales reps to distributors with a program for collaboration.

“You need to share projects in collaboration effortlessly,” Tom Glass told the audience to conclude the presentation. “And the Hi-Spec program will do that – and more. We’re excited to introduce it.”

The room was then “opened up” to reveal the complete line of ICE AIR equipment on display. ICE AIR® RAISES THE BAR ON FAN COIL UNITS (FCUs) WHILE LOWERING INSTALLATION AND OPERATING COSTS

MT. VERNON, NY– ICE AIR®, the developer and manufacturer of a wide variety of HVAC units introduces their Fan Coil Unit (FCU) line raising the bar for simple and easy cooling and heating, reliable performance, high efficiency, ease of operation, low cost, easy installation and quiet comfort. ICE AIR® AWARDED TRADEMARK ON NEW TECHNOLOGY REDUCING HEAT TRANSFER IN AIR CONDITIONING

MT. VERNON, NY – ICE AIR®, the developer and manufacturer of a wide variety of HVAC units, was awarded a trademark on their patented technology for commercial air conditioners that reduces heat transfer from a building’s exterior through the wall-sleeve casing. Called ThermalGuard®, the trademark will be used to identify and distinguish the company’s products from other manufacturers.

“We’re very excited about this development,” says Ric Nadel, Chairman/Co-CEO of the company after meeting the requirements of Sections 8 and 15 of the Trademark Act, 15 U.S.C. §1058 and 1065. “Typical sheet-metal PTAC air conditioning units and through-wall sleeves transfer heat from the outside air to the building’s interior. This causes cooling/heating units to work over-time during the seasons as they try to overcome this very inefficient thermal transfer. In turn, what gets eliminated are any gains from higher equipment energy efficiencies. The problem defeats the purpose owners had of trying to save energy.”

ICE-AIR ThermalGuard technology solved that problem by greatly reducing this heat transfer. “Our technology allows our PTACs and through-wall units to run more efficiently, the way they were intended. This helps the owners achieve the energy efficiency they were striving for when they bought energy-efficient equipment. ICE AIR ThermalGuard equipment makes a strong contribution to the overall building’s efficiency,” Nadel adds.

ICE AIR® AWARDED US PATENT ON FRESH AIR VENTILATION PACKAGE FOR PTAC AIR CONDITIONERS

MT. VERNON, NY – ICE AIR®, the developer and manufacturer of a wide variety of HVAC units, has been awarded a U.S. Patent (US 9,383,115 B2) for their fresh air ventilation package, which relates to fresh air ventilation devices for use with air conditioners (ACs) and/or heaters. In operation, the patented device supplements the recirculating air of the AC/heater with fresh air drawn from outside of the building.

“Ice Air’s product lines and advanced green features are continually evolving to meet changing market demands,” said Ric Nadel, Chairman/Co-CEO of the company after the award. “In fact, we came up with this device, which we call Xstream Air™ to provide from 20-100 cfm of filtered, tempered outside air through our advanced terminal equipment after listening to one of our specifying engineers.”

Building a Better PTAC – Ice Air Featured on Urban Green Council Blog

Ice Air’s innovative ThermalGuard and Xstream Air products have been highlighted in a blog post by engineer Peter Joselow on Urban Green Council’s blog. Ice Air has worked with Joselow’s prominent engineering firm in New York on numerous new construction affordable housing projects to create innovative accessories for Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners (and other products) in order to meet more stringent building and energy codes.

For example, ThermalGuard is a patented technology that substantially decreases thermal transfer from a building’s exterior through the wall sleeve casing to make the building envelope more efficient. Xstream Air is an outside air module that provides filtered, tempered air through advanced terminal equipment. SoundShield greatly reduces sound transmission from outside noise and allows buildings to meet minimum window/wall noise attenuation ratings.

Innovative SPAC A/C Unit Spells Good News in Heat Wave

Mount Vernon, NY – Ice Air, a leading manufacturer of HVAC equipment, has recently added an innovative product to their line-up. The high velocity Single Package Vertical Air Conditioner/Heat Pump (SPAC) is a unique air-to-air unit that works from within an interior wall space and provides ultra-quiet operation, high-energy efficiency, and zoned cooling and heating for multifamily residences.

As is often the case with innovative products, the SPAC was originally designed as a custom solution for a specific building project. The Sunset Tower was an over-budget new construction project on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, CA with challenging HVAC specifications. The building’s configuration necessitated an interior unit location with 15’-30’ of condenser air ducting causing a high static pressure requirement for the units. The major snag: this type of equipment wasn’t available anywhere on the market.

While the project’s engineering plans had originally specified Water Source Heat Pumps, the cost of providing a “wet” system was too high for the project’s budget. When posed with this problem, Ice Air stepped in to design an extremely cost-effective and user-friendly solution that negates the high piping and labor costs typically associated with water source heat pump installations.

The design and power of the SPAC allows each apartment in the luxury condominium tower to have just one unit in an interior closet to provide heating and cooling to three rooms: the kitchen, living room and bedroom. Typical HVAC systems normally necessitate having a unit located in each room of an apartment.

The SPAC has a unique dual motor design with quiet indoor airflow and variable condenser CFM that allows for easy customization to a range of project requirements. The unit is available in both standard and high velocity configurations and is perfect for multi-room applications, including multi-family buildings, suites, dormitories, light commercial and lodging properties.

Hybrids at Hudson Yards

Ice Air’s new Hydronic Hybrid Water-Cooled Air Conditioners (WCAC) will be a part of the first residential tower in the high-profile Hudson Yards development. Located at 500 W. 30th Street in Manhattan, the project represents an exciting area of development, as well as an example of Ice Air’s recent HVAC innovation.

Ice Air is in the process of delivering the 600+ Hybrid Console and Vertical Stack WCACs for the project, which will help to provide superior, high efficiency comfort conditioning for the building. The new line of Hydronic Hybrid WCACs combines a water-cooled cooling system with an advanced hot water coil to provide hydronic heat for an entire room without using the unit’s compressor. The high capacity heating coil operates at extremely low Entering Water Temperatures (between 105°-125°F).

The 32-story tower, which is currently under construction, has 386 residential units, including 20% reserved for low-income residents.

Dallas was hopping during ASHRAE, particularly from January 26-28, when Ice Air hosted a multitude of events for regional sales representatives and HVAC engineers. The company’s Annual Sales Meeting was held at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel, where awards were given for “Salesperson of the Year” to Richard Mabie from R.P. O’Connell (Massachusetts), “The Fritz Award” to Taylor Reeves from AZME/Sigler (California), and “Distributor of the Year” to Brothers Supply (Long Island City, NY).

Ice Air’s festivities included a BBQ at Sammy’s BBQ, a golf outing at Cowboys Golf Club, and a Product Showcase featuring new and existing products.

New Hydronic Hybrid WSHP Boasts High Efficiency

Ice Air, a leading manufacturer of HVAC equipment, recently introduced a series of new “Hybrid” Water Source Heat Pumps, which use a fraction of the energy required for heating and cooling, when compared to traditional WSHPs and other HVAC systems.

The Hybrid unit combines water-cooled air conditioning with an advanced hot water coil that provides hydronic heat for an entire room without using the unit’s compressor. The high capacity heating coil operates at extremely low Entering Water Temperatures (EWT), between 105°-125°F. These units, when coupled with a high efficiency condensing boiler, provide the most cost-effective and efficient method of space heating for multi-family buildings, lodging, dormitory and similar properties.

Ice Air Announces New Direct Replacement Console WSHP

This month, Ice Air, a leading manufacturer of HVAC equipment, introduced the ExactFitTM direct replacement for ClimateMaster’s Console Water Source Heat Pump (WSHP). Ice Air previously offered a direct replacement for the McQuay Console model, but a recent successful retrofit project prompted them to add a custom-sized replacement model to their expanding product line-up.

The project, a complete retrofit of St. Louis Hall, an apartment building located at 319 West 94th Street in Manhattan, included 140+ slope top Console WSHP units with motorized outside air dampers on some units, as well as condensate pumps and factory installed piping packages. Ice Air was able to change the size specifications of the units in order to meet the evolving design needs of the project, and the customers are “very impressed with the mix of value, quality and performance of the new units,” said Ice Air co-CEO, Ric Nadel.

Ice Air Creates Xstream Air for Extreme Comfort

Ice Air launched Xstream Air, a patented Outside Air Module, which provides up to 150 cfm of filtered, tempered outside air through ICE AIR’s advanced Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners (PTAC). The product was unveiled at ICE AIR’s annual Sales Representative meeting and equipment showcase held at Chicago’s Elysian Hotel during the recent AHR Expo.

Adding Xstream Air to PTACs introduces a specified amount of outside air into the conditioned space – eliminating the need for separate make-up air systems or window mounted “trickle vents.” It brings fresh air from the building’s exterior and filters and tempers it before mixing it with air from inside the room to create a single, refreshing air stream.

Thank ThermalGuard Technology from Ice Air for Less Heat Transfer

Ice Air has recently developed a new Thru-Wall Sleeve for its Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners (PTACs), called ThermalGuardTM. ThermalGuardTM is a brand new, patented technology designed to eliminate heat transfer from outside the building through the wall sleeve casing.

Normal wall sleeves are typically made of sheet metal and change temperature depending on the ambient outside air temperature. This causes the PTAC unit to work over-time to heat the interior space during winter, or cool it during summer. Often this eliminates any gains in PTAC energy efficiency. With ThermalGuardTM technology, PTACs are even more efficient and make a stronger contribution to overall building energy efficiency. It may also be possible to garner increased LEEDs points using ICE AIR’s patented ThermalGuardTM technology.

Ice Air’s Vegas Victories

Ice Air recently returned from a whirlwind trip to Las Vegas. In town to promote their eco-friendly lines of Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners, Water Source Heat Pumps and Fan Coil Units during the AHR Expo, Ice Air set up shop in The Wynn hotel to launch their new products for 2011 and to honor their best sales representatives.

The Most Improved Sales Award went to Patrick Anderson of Stoermer-Anderson, based in Cincinnati. Salesperson of the Year was earned by Pam Siciliano of Thermosystems, Inc. of Chicago. In her acceptance speech, Siciliano complimented Ice Air, noting that she “loves Ice Air because of their integrity.” Distributor of the Year went to Brothers Supply Corporation in New York, and was accepted by Michael Esposito, the son of the owner.

Ice Air also held the “Sports Sweepstakes Extravaganza” in which the raffle grand prize winner was able to choose one of five sports getaways, including trips to the MLB All-Star Game, the NCAA Final Four, Indy 500 and the 2012 Super Bowl. The winner was Brent Smith, from Tom Barrow Associates in Tampa, who will be heading to the Super Bowl in Indianapolis next year.

Mo Siegel, Ice Air President, Successful in Seventeen-Mile Swim to Sandy Hook

Mo Siegel, 59, of Piermont, NY successfully completed the Ederle Swim from Battery Park, New York City, to Sandy Hook, New Jersey on Saturday, Oct. 23. The open water swimming competition took place in choppy 56-degree seas along a 17-mile course through the New York Harbor and the Upper Bay past Brooklyn and Coney Island down to New Jersey. Ten swimmers competed and all finished, a rarity for this annual swim. Siegel, the oldest swimmer in the field, came in with a time of 6:15:28. The last swimmer in, he had to complete most of the journey on his own. Due to the rough conditions, his kayaker dropped out of the race after two hours, leaving Siegel to navigate the challenging waters. Despite this setback, he finished the race excited but exhausted.

Ice Air Retrofit Project Serves Seniors in Seaside Community

Ice Air, a leading developer and manufacturer of HVAC units, collaborated with Francis Asbury Manor to retrofit their upscale assisted-living community with air conditioning. The community, which is situated in the Victorian seaside town of Ocean Grove, NJ, needed to be upgraded from the inside out in order to provide them with the ultimate comfort.

Ice Air’s Philadelphia area representative, Energy Transfer Solutions Inc. (ETSI) worked directly with Francis Asbury Manor to retrofit their existing facility. Greg Stoughton of ETSI, who helped to manage the project, said that the job was “a large undertaking because there was no air conditioning in the building, just hot water radiator heating and no central air conditioning.” Ice Air’s solution was to install 45 new Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners (PTACs) because they are the most time and cost-efficient.

The entire PTAC installation was carried out as part of a full building renovation, which took about three months. This work included cutting holes through the existing walls to install new wall sleeves and air conditioning units with color-matched architectural louvers. Each unit was connected to the building’s existing hot water piping and coils. No re-wiring was necessary because PTACs are powered from interior electrical outlets, which makes the job a cleaner and easier process than typical retrofitting projects.

The new PTACs will allow Francis Asbury residents to regulate their own room temperatures, and provide them with an aesthetically cleaner unit that fits the beauty and comfort of their location.
